For many, our “comfort zone” is in the middle of a crowd listening to our favorite artists sing to us (and hundreds if not thousands of other fans.) It was no different for the 20,000 fans taking refuge at Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York, amping themselves up to see Eric Church’s 2017 Holdin’ My Own Tour!
An advocate of good music, and always putting his fans’ experiences first, Church was determined to not let scalpers win the war on gouging of ticket prices. With help of his team they were able to cancel orders (made by scalpers) so those tickets get into the hands of true fans! What multi award winning artist (including 2016 CMA Album of the Year, for “Mr. Misunderstood” and 2016 ACM Video of the Year, for the title track, “Mr. Misunderstood”,) can you say is willing to go out of their way to make sure their fans are taken care of like that?
But that is nowhere near the most incredible part of Eric Church’s 2017 Holdin’ My Own Tour! Church took the stage in the silhouette of the single beam light opening with, “Mistress named Music”. Then the lights started to reveal his band as he leads into his second song, “That’s Damn Rock & Roll”. We are introduced to the female vocals of Joanna Cotten who complimented Church’s calm, bad ass attitude, with her own powerful raspy, “I Got This” personality in her voice. Church also teamed up with NARAS and Grammy in the schools, to have local participating student choirs will join Church on stage (at select stops on the “Holdin’ My Own” Tour). In addition, Church will also contribute to underfunded schools as a part of GRAMMY Foundation’s Community Award Grant.
Throughout the night, Church fed off the audience’s energy and vice versa. His ability to entertain and satisfy all his fans from the 360 degree stage, is a man with a heart of an entertainer and a soul filled with talent. With no opening act Church performed almost 4 hours; singing over 36 songs and 3 encores (2 of them acoustic). It was a perfect night that fans will not forget!
Eric Church’s 2017 Holdin’ My Own Tour will be making 62 stops and covering about 16,160 miles. Check the tour dates to see when Church is near you! It’s a show we promise you will NOT want to miss!
